การเดินทางของวีรบุรุษในนวนิยายเรื่องทางเทวดา ของ แก้วเก้า

Abstract

บทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาวิเคราะห์นวนิยายร่วมสมัยเรื่อง ทางเทวดา ของ แก้วเก้า ตามแนวคิด โครงสร้างการเดินทางของวีรบุรุษ (The Hero’s Journey) ของ คริสโตเฟอร์ โวคเลอร์ (Christopher Vogler) เพื่อ หาคำตอบว่าตัวละครเอกซึ่งเป็นวีรบุรุษในนวนิยายร่วมสมัยมีโครงสร้างการเดินทางผจญภัยที่สอดคล้องกับแนวคิดของ โวคเลอร์หรือไม่ ผลการศึกษาพบว่า แก้วเก้านำโครงเรื่อง ตัวละคร และแก่นเรื่องมาจากบทละครนอกเรื่อง สังข์ทอง พระราชนิพนธ์ในพระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธเลิศหล้านภาลัย มาสร้างสรรค์เป็นนวนิยายร่วมสมัยเรื่อง ทางเทวดา ซึ่งมีโครงเรื่องเกี่ยวกับการพิสูจน์ความสามารถและความดีงามของตัวละครเอกภายใต้รูปลักษณ์อันต่ำต้อย ตัวละครเอกมีโครงสร้างการเดินทางของวีรบุรุษตามแนวคิดของโวคเลอร์ทั้ง 3 ขั้นตอนใหญ่ซึ่งประกอบด้วย 12 เหตุการณ์ คือ ขั้นตอนที่ 1 การออกเดินทาง ขั้นตอนที่ 2 การเข้าสู่ช่วงการทดสอบ และขั้นตอนที่ 3 การเดินทางกลับ กล่าวได้ว่า เรื่องราวการผจญภัยของวีรบุรุษในนวนิยายร่วมสมัยสร้างความตื่นเต้นและสนใจใคร่ติดตามแก่ผู้อ่าน แก้วเก้ามีความสามารถในการนำเสนอความคิดและขยายมุมมองในการตีความโครงเรื่อง ตัวละคร และแก่นเรื่องที่มีอยู่เดิมมา สร้างเรื่องใหม่โดยให้ตัวละครเอกมีโครงสร้างการเดินทางของวีรบุรุษสมัยใหม่ที่เหมาะสมกับยุคสมัยในปัจจุบัน

The objective of this article is to analyze a contemporary Thai novel, ‘Thang Devata’ written by Kaewkao, according Christopher Vogler’s theory of The Hero’s Journey to see if the journey of a hero in contemporary Thai novel conforms with Vogler’s theory. The result of this study reveals that Kaewkao finds inspiration from prior texts which are the Thai literary work, ‘Sang Thong’, a drama composed by King Rama II in order to create plot, character and theme in ‘Thang Devata’. Consequently, her novel presents new concept and new perspective through the newly interpreted plot, character and theme ‘elucidating the inner beauty and ugly body with virtue aspect whose abilities are beyond human being’. The character of ‘Thang Devata’ conformed to Vogler’s theory of The Hero’s Journey in three main facets (12 stages): Departure, Initiation and Return. In conclusion, The Hero’s Journey in contemporary Thai novel has been employed to fascinate and attract the reader. Kaewkao is skillful to use the Thai literary work in creating her contemporary Thai novel by changing, adjusting and adding certain details as appropriate to make her main character as a modern hero and appealing to the contemporary taste.
