The 1st International Conference on Law with Sustainable Development: An ASEAN’s Perspective, Room 3001, Floor 3, Nawamindradhiraj Building Graduate School of Law, National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) Bangkok, Thailand, 24th March 2016en
It is quite obvious that ASEAN is a group of countries which mostly consists of least developed states rather than developed ones, while those states are commercially attractive. At present, while the climate change is a global challenging issue, an intellectual property investment could play an important role to solve the environmental problem, besides generating commercial benefits, not only in ASEAN but also around the world. This paper has an aim to discuss on the problem of intellectual property protection and climate change in the context of ASEAN. The research indicated that a progress to solve the climate change dilemma in ASEAN has been retarded by a long process of intellectual property register, especially in patent cases. Finally, this paper concluded and proposed that ASEAN immediately requires a practical implementation of relevant legal framework and coordination among members to promote and accelerate procedures for last tracking green patents.en
