Chemical Compositions and Anti-Microbial Activities of Essential Oil from Callistemon Lanceolatus

Abstract

The hydro-distilled essential oil from the fresh leaves of Callistemon Lanceolatus DC. (Myrtaceae) was analysed for its chemical compositions by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Thirty-four components were identified, of which 1.8-cineole (42.66%), α-thujene (12.82%) were the major components. The oil exhibited anti-microbial activities against Staphylococcus aureus (MIC 0.63% v/v). Bacillus subtilis (MIC 0.31% v/v) and Trichophyton mentagrophytes (MIC 0.31% v/v)

งานวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์องค์ประกอบทางเคมีของน้ำมันระเหยที่กลั่นได้จากใบสดของต้นแปรงล้างขวด (Callistemon Lanceolatus DC.) วงศ์ Myrtaceae ด้วยเครื่องก๊าซโครมาโตกราฟ-แมสสเปกโตรเมตรี พบว่าน้ำมันดังกล่าวมีองค์ประกอบ 34 ชนิด โดยมี 1,8-cineole (ร้อยละ 42.66) α-phellandrene (ร้อยละ 13.88) และ α-thujene (ร้อยละ 12.82) เป็นองค์ประกอบหลัก การทดสอบฤทธิ์ต้านจุลชีพพบว่า น้ำมันระเหยจากต้นแปรงล้างขวดแสดงฤทธิ์ต้านเชื้อ Staphylococcus aureus (MIC ร้อยละ 0.63% โดยปริมาตร) Bacillus subtilis (MIC ร้อยละ 0.31 โดยปริมาตร) และ Trichophyton mentagrophytes (MIC ร้อยละ 0.31% โดยปริมาตร)
