dc.description.abstractBan Sakhla is a valuable community that still maintains its own cultural landscape under the pressures of the global change. The location is a rural vernacular landscape area in Samutprakarn province, supporting extensive farming and fishing of marine products from man-made shrimp farm, canals, and sea are in the northern portion of the Gulf of Thailand. The water circulation is the main theme of the community that dominates an overview of the study area. There are a lot of attractions of the places, people, things, and events in the community, including the housing style, temple, local products, dialect, traditional games, culture, and custom. The identification and assessment of landscape characters in the community are done in accordance with the study method. Significances of the community are identified and analyzed to understand their own values to the community in terms of history, aesthetics, science, and social perspectives. These values certainly support the Ban Sakha to sustain its standout in the existing world. However, Ban Sakhla is recently encountering a number of difficulties threatening their significances including soil subsidence, flood, garbage, noise and air pollutions, insufficient knowledge of conservation, materialism, quality of water, and even the government sector. The government and all members in the community are major participants for future actions to solve those problems permanently. In order to get adequate budgets to develop and achieve a stronghold of the community in the sustainable way. The Ban Sakhla has a very high potential for ecotourism as well as homestay and farmstay, because of its plenty of resources both nature and culture.en_US
