การตั้งถิ่นฐานและการปรับเปลี่ยนทางวัฒนธรรม : กรณีศึกษาชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนฮกเกี้ยน ในชุมชนบางน้ำผึ้ง อำเภอพระประแดง จังหวัดสมุทรปราการ

Abstract

งานวิจัยเรื่อง การตั้งถิ่นฐานและการปรับเปลี่ยนทางวัฒนธรรม : กรณีศึกษาชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนฮกเกี้ยนในชุมชนบางน้ำผึ้ง อำเภอพระประแดง จังหวัดสมุทรปราการ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาเหตุปัจจัยที่ทำให้กลุ่มชาวจีนฮกเกี้ยนอพยพเข้ามาตั้งถิ่นฐานในชุมชนบางน้ำผึ้ง และวิเคราะห์การปรับเปลี่ยนทางวัฒนธรรมของชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนฮกเกี้ยนในชุมชนบางน้ำผึ้ง ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ชุมชนบางน้ำผึ้ง อำเภอพระประแดง จังหวัดสมุทรปราการ นอกจากจะมีชาวไทย ชาวมอญ และชาวจีนแต้จิ๋วแล้ว ยังมีชาวจีนฮกเกี้ยนซึ่งเป็นกลุ่มคนที่มีบทบาทสำคัญในการขับเคลื่อนเศรษฐกิจภายในและภายนอกชุมชน กลุ่มคนฮกเกี้ยนเหล่านี้ ได้อพยพเข้ามาตั้งถิ่นฐานในชุมชนบางน้ำผึ้งกว่า 100 ปีมาแล้ว โดยช่วงเวลาที่ศึกษานี้เป็นคนรุ่นที่ 2 ถึงรุ่นที่ 4 ปัจจัยภายในของการอพยพอยู่ในพื้นที่นี้ประกอบด้วยปัจจัยสำคัญ 4 ส่วนคือ 1) ความยากจน ขาดที่ดินทำกิน 2)ปัญหาข้อขัดแย้งอย่างรุนแรงระหว่างตระกูล 3) การหลีกเลี่ยงการถูกเกณฑ์ทหาร และ 4) การหลีกเลี่ยงการถูกขูดรีดภาษี ส่วนปัจจัยภายนอกที่ดึงดูดให้ชาวจีนฮกเกี้ยนเดินทางมาประเทศไทย คือ ความอุดมสมบูรณ์ของพื้นที่ที่สอดคล้องกับอุปนิสัยรักสงบและชอบอาชีพเพาะปลูก และความมีน้ำใจของคนไทย ทั้งปัจจัยภายในและภายนอกดังกล่าวก่อให้เกิดกระบวนการเรียนรู้และการแลกเปลี่ยนวัฒนธรรมระหว่างชาวจีนฮกเกี้ยนและชาวไทย การปรับตัวและผสมผสานนี้ ปรากฏให้เห็นในวัฒนธรรมต่างๆ เช่น ศาลเจ้า สุสานจีนภายในวัด และเครือข่ายตระกูลแซ่ของคนรุ่นต่อมา เป็นต้น ปัจจุบันลูกหลานชาวจีนฮกเกี้ยนในพื้นที่ชุมชนบางน้ำผึ้งได้เป็นแกนสำคัญในการทำธุรกิจในพื้นที่ การวิจัยครั้งนี้ได้ให้ข้อมูลความเป็นจีนถิ่นในสังคมไทย ซึ่งควรมีการขยายประเด็นการศึกษาทางประวัติศาสตร์ วัฒนธรรมและเศรษฐกิจของจีนถิ่นฮกเกี้ยนและจีนถิ่นกลุ่มอื่นๆ ต่อไป

The study of Settlement and Cultural Transition : A Case Study of the Hokkiens in Bang Nam Phueng Community, Phrapradaeng District, Samutprakarn Province has two objectives, which are : 1) to find out causes of Hokkiens moving to settle in the Bang Nam Phueng area, and 2) to analyze the cultural transition of these Hokkiens in their new settlement. The study found that in Bang Nam Phurng community there are various ethnic groups, for example Thais, Mons, Taechiews, and Hokkiens. In particular, the Hokkiens have played the key role in encouraging economic activity in the community. These Hokkiens are the second to the fourth generations of their ancestors who immigrated into this community over a century ago. The internal factors that caused the Hokkiens in Kawngtong Province in China to search for new settlements were: 1) the poverty and the shortage of farmlang, 2) conflicts between families, 3) the avoiding of conscription and 4) the high-rate of taxation. In addition, the external factors that lured the Hokkiens to Thailand included the fertile agricultural land of Thailand, which was well suited to the Hokkiens' skills in farming. Moreover, the pleasant characteristics of Thai people also encouraged the immigration of the Hokkiens. Both the internal and external factors have encouraged and resulted in the new integrated culture of the Hokkiens in Bang Nam Phueng community. The cultural transition is shown in, for example, the Chinese shrine in Bang Kachao, Chinese graveyards in Thai temples, and family associations. In conclusion, the findings of this study increase the knowledge of Chinese ethnic groups in Thailand. For future studies, the historical, cultural, and economic background of the Hokkiens and other Chinese groups are still required.
