กระดาษไหว้ : คติความเชื่อและการเปลี่ยนแปลงของคนไทยเชื้อสายจีนชุมชนเจริญไชย ย่านเยาวราช จังหวัดกรุงเทพมหานคร

Abstract

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษารูปแบบกระดาษไหว้ ความเชื่อ และการสืบทอดที่มีอยู่ในกระดาษไหว้ของคนไทยเชื้อสายจีน ชุมชนเจริญไชย ย่านเยาวราช กรุงเทพมหานคร และวิเคราะห์การเปลี่ยนแปลงความเชื่อเกี่ยวกับกระดาษไหว้ที่ปรากฎอยู่ในสังคมไทยปัจจุบัน ซึ่งงานวิจัยนี้เป็นงานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ ผู้วิจัยได้ดำเนินการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดยใช้วิธีการลงพื้นที่สัมภาษณ์แบบเจาะลึกกับกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่เจาะจงและกลุ่มแบบบังเอิญจำนวน 40 คน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า รูปแบบของกระดาษไหว้ในอดีตมีความสอดคล้องกับคติความเชื่อแบบดั้งเดิมของจีน แต่ในปัจจุบันรูปแบบของกระดาษไหว้มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงโดยได้ถูกผลิตขึ้นตามความนิยมและคติความเชื่อของผู้คนในสังคมสมัยใหม่ ส่วนความเชื่อที่เกี่ยวข้องกับกระดาษไหว้จะใช้ในพิธีกรรม 2 พิธีกรรม คือ 1) พิธีกรรมทางสังคม ได้แก่ พิธีกรรมในเทศกาลตรุษจีน เช็งเม้ง สารทจีน และไหว้พระจันทร์ ซึ่งทั้ง 4 พิธีกรรมล้วนจัดขึ้นตามเทศกาลจีนและมีความสำคัญต่อคนไทยเชื้อสายจีนอย่างยิ่ง 2) พิธีกรรมเกี่ยวกับชีวิต ได้แก่ พิธีงานศพ (พิธีกงเต๊ก) พิธีไหว้ครบรอบวันเสียชีวิต พิธีแก้บนและพิธีแก้ปีชง โดยพิธีกรรมเหล่านี้ล้วนมีความเกี่ยวข้องกับวิถีชีวิตของลูกหลานคนไทยเชื้อสายจีนในย่านเยาวราชแห่งนี้อย่างเหนียวแน่น แม้ว่าชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนยังคงสืบทอดวัฒนธรรมการใช้กระดาษไหว้มาจนถึงปัจจุบัน แต่ได้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงขึ้นเกี่ยวกับความเชื่อ โดยทั้งนี้เกิดจาก 2 ปัจจัยได้แก่ 1) ปัจจัยภายใน คือสมาชิกภายในครอบครัว การสมรสกับชาวต่างชาติ การนับถือศาสนาอื่น และทัศนคติของคนรุ่นใหม่ 2) ปัจจัยภายนอก คือ สภาพเศรษฐกิจ สิ่งแวดล้อม การศึกษา และการรับวัฒนธรรมอื่นเข้ามา ซึ่งปัจจัยต่าง ๆ เหล่านี้ล้วนส่งผลให้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงเกี่ยวกับความเชื่อแบบดั้งเดิม แต่อย่างไรก็ตามกระดาษไหว้ยังคงได้รับการสืบทอดและการเผยแพร่มาอย่างต่อเนื่อง และกระดาษไหว้ก็ยังคงเป็นหนึ่งในเครื่องเซ่นไหว้บนโต๊ะหมู่บูชาของลูกหลานชาวจีนรวมถึงคนไทยเชื้อสายจีนที่ไม่สามารถขาดหายไปได้มาตั้งแต่อดีตจนถึงปัจจุบัน

This research aimed to study Joss Paper Pattern, beliefs and the inheritance contained in the Joss Paper of Thai-Chinese people in Charoen chai Thai-Chinese Community in Yaowarach area, Bangkok and Analysis of changed in beliefs about Joss Paper that appeared in Thai society today. This research was a qualitative research. Research data was collected by in depth interviewing of forty informants. The researchers conducted data collection using in-depth interviews with a Purposive sampling and Accidental sampling of 40 people. The research found that Patterns of Joss Paper in the past were relevant to Chinese traditional beliefs. However, nowadays the making of sacred paper was adjusted to modern ideas. Beliefs related to Joss Paper were used in two rituals: 1) Social ceremonies include: Chinese New Year; Qingming Festival; Chinese Mid-Year; and Full Moon Festival. All 4 rituals were held in accordance with Chinese festivals and are very important to Thai-Chinese people. 2) Life rituals include: funeral ceremony (Kong Tek Ceremony), anniversaries of the dead and making sacrifice for gods. These rituals were closely related to the way of life of Thai-Chinese people in Yaowarat area. Although Thai-Chinese people still inherit the culture of using Joss Paper to the present. But there has been a change in beliefs caused by 2 factors: 1) Internal factors were family members. marriage with foreigners other religion and attitudes of the new generation. 2) External factors were economic conditions, environment, education, and the adoption of other cultures. All of these factors have resulted in a shift in traditional beliefs. However, Joss Paper has continued to be inherited and distributed. Joss Paper was still one of the offerings on the altar table of the Chinese descendants and Thai-Chinese people that cannot be missing from the past to the present.
