การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาวิเคราะห์ความเชื่อ พิธีกรรมและบทบาทของศาลเจ้าจีนฮกเกี้ยน ในตำบลตลาดเหนือ อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดภูเก็ต ที่มีต่อชุมชนและสังคมไทยในปัจจุบัน เป็นงานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ โดยใช้วิธีเก็บข้อมูลจากเอกสาร (Documentary Research) และการเก็บข้อมูลภาคสนาม (Fied Research) กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัยครั้งนี้คือ ประธานหรือกรรมการศาลเจ้า ผู้มีหน้าที่ดูแลศาลเจ้า ผู้ประกอบพิธีกรรม ผู้ขายของบริเวณศาลเจ้า และผู้มาสักการะบูชาศาลเจ้ารวมทั้งหมดจำนวน 55 คน ที่ได้มาจากการเลือกกลุ่มตัวอย่างแบบเจาะจงและแบบบังเอิญ เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดยใช้วิธีสัมภาษณ์แบบเชิงลึกพร้อมทั้งนำข้อมูลที่ได้มาวิเคราะห์และนำเสนอผลงานวิจัยแบบพรรณนาวิเคราะห์ผลการวิจัยพบว่าศาลเจ้าจีนฮกเกี้ยนในตำบลตลาดเหนือมีประวัติยาวนานเกิน 100 ปีจำนวนทั้งหมด 4 แห่ง ได้แก่ ศาลเจ้าแม่ย่านาง ศาลเจ้าจ้ออ๋อง ศาลเจ้าปุดจ้อ และศาลเจ้าจุ้ยตุ่ยเต้าโบ้เก้ง ปรากฏความเชื่อรวมทั้งหมด 8 ความเชื่อ คือ 1) สุขภาพ 2) โชคลาภ 3) ความปลอดภัย 4) การงาน5) ขอบุตร 6) ขอชื่อ 7) แก้ปีชง และ 8) ความรัก ด้วยการที่เป็นศาลเจ้าชาวจีนฮกเกี้ยนเหมือนกันจึงมีความเชื่อการขอพรเรื่องโชคลาภและความปลอดภัยเหมือนกัน ทั้งนี้แต่ละศาลเจ้ายังมีเอกลักษณ์ที่ให้ความสำคัญต่อเทพเจ้าต่างกัน ความเชื่อบางส่วนจึงแตกต่าง กล่าวคือ การขอพรเรื่องสุขภาพนิยมไปขอในศาลเจ้าจ้ออ๋อง ศาลเจ้าปุดจ้อ และศาลเจ้าจุ้ยตุ่ยเต้าโบ้เก้ง การขอพรเรื่องการงานนิยมไปขอในศาลเจ้าจ้ออ๋องกับศาลเจ้าปุดจ้อ และการขอพรเรื่องแก้ปีชงนิยมไปขอในศาลเจ้าปุดจ้อกับศาลเจ้าจุ้ยตุ่ยเต้าโบ้เก้ง ส่วนศาลเจ้าปุดจ้อเป็นศาลเจ้าที่มีขนาดใหญ่และมีเทพเจ้าจำนวนมากที่สุดในชุมชนจึงปรากฏทั้ง 8 ความเชื่อ ด้านพิธีกรรมปรากฏทั้งหมด 5 พิธีกรรม ซึ่งสัมพันธ์กับเทศกาลประจำปีที่ศาลเจ้าจัดขึ้นเป็นประจำคือ 1) พิธีกรรมในเทศกาลตรุษจีนกับเทศกาลหยวนเซียว 2) พิธีกรรมในเทศกาลเซียวโบ้ยพ้อ (พ้อต่อ) 3) พิธีกรรมในเทศกาลไหว้พระจันทร์ 4) พิธีกรรมในเทศกาลถือศีลกินผักและ 5) พิธีกรรมในเทศกาลแซยิด โดยทั้ง 4 ศาลเจ้ามีพิธีกรรมเหมือนกัน ได้แก่ พิธีเค่งเต๋ (ถวายน้ำชา) พิธีโข้กุ๊น (พิธีเลี้ยงทหาร) และพิธีกรรมเฉี้ยโห้ย (ไฟพระฤกษ์) และด้วยการให้ความสำคัญเทพเจ้าต่างกัน จึงมีพิธีกรรมบางอย่างไม่เหมือนกัน ได้แก่ พิธีกรรมในเทศกาลเซียวโบ้ยพ้อมีศาลเจ้าจ้ออ๋องจัดพิธีกรรมเพียงหนึ่งศาลเจ้า พิธีกรรมในเทศกาลไหว้พระจันทร์มีศาลเจ้าแม่ย่านางจัดพิธีกรรมเพียงหนึ่งศาลเจ้าพิธีกรรมในเทศกาลถือศีลกินผักมีศาลเจ้าจุ้ยตุ่ยเต้าโบ้เก้งจัดพิธีเพียงหนึ่งศาล และพิธีกรรมแซยิด แต่ละศาลเจ้าจัดให้เทพเจ้าสำคัญประจำศาลของตน จากความเชื่อและพิธีกรรมที่ได้กล่าวทั้งหมดนั้นมีบทบาทต่อชุมชนและสังคมไทยแบ่งได้ 4 ด้าน ได้แก่ 1) บทบาททางด้านจิตใจ 2) บทบาทด้านสังคม 3) บทบาทด้านเศรษฐกิจ และ 4) บทบาทด้านวัฒนธรรม ดังนั้นศาลเจ้าทั้ง 4 แห่งในชุมชนจึงเป็นศาสนสถานสำคัญที่ยังคงรักษา สืบทอดวัฒนธรรมที่เป็นรากเหง้าของชาวจีนฮกเกี้ยนไว้เป็นแหล่งเรียนรู้มรดกทางวัฒนธรรมของชุมชนให้กับคนรุ่นหลัง
This qualitative research aims to analyze beliefs, rituals and roles in Phuket Province of Chinese Hokkien Shrines in Taladneua Sub-district, Mueang District, Phuket Province. Documentary and field trip studies are research methodologies. Fifty-five informants were a sample group, including the chair or a member of the managing board of the shrine; care takers of the shrine; ritual practitioners; vendors in the shrine; and worshippers of the shrine. The sample group is particularly and randomly selected; data is gathered by in-depth interviewing. Research findings are reported as a descriptive analysis.The research finds four over 100-year-old shrines in Taladneua Sub-district, including Mae-ya-ngang Shrine; Jaw-ong Shrine; Budh-jaw Shrine; and Jui-tui-tao-bo-kaeng Shrine. Eight beliefs are found, relating to 1) health; 2) luck; 3) safety; 4) work; 5) wishing for offspring; 6) naming; 7) bad luck correcting; and 8) wishing for love. Since all four shrines belong to Chinese Hokkien, the beliefs found are similar, especially wishing for luck and safety. However, each shrine worships different major gods, so some beliefs are different. For health wishing, most people like to visit Jaw-ong, Budh-jaw and Jui-tui-tao-bo-kaeng Shrines; while wishing for work, Jaw-ong and Budh-jaw are most visited. For bad luck correcting, Budh-jaw and Jui-tui-tao-bo-kaeng Shrines are well-known. In conclusion, Budh-jaw Shrine is the biggest and worships the most numbers of god, so all eight beliefs are noted. For rituals, five major rituals related to annual festivals are found practiced at the shrines, including 1) Chinese New Year and Yuan-xiao Festivals; 2) Xiao-boy-por (Por-tor) Festival; 3) Zhong-qiu or Moon Festival; 4) Vegetarian Festival; and 5) Sare-yid (birthday) Ceremony. All four shrines offer the same three rituals of Kaeng-te (Worshipping with tea); Koh-kun (Offering feast to soldiers); and Qia-hoy (Inviting the sacred fire). However, each shrine has different major gods, so some festivals are optionally practiced at some shrines, as the following. On Xiao-boy-por (Por-tor) Festival, only Jaw-ong Shrine holds the rituals, while on Zhong-qiu or Moon Festival, Mae-ya-ngang Shrine solely offers the rituals. For Vegetarian Festival, only Jui-tui-tao-bo-kaeng Shrine is the center offering the rituals. Only on Sare-yid (birthday) Ceremony, every shrine commonly holds the rituals to worship their major gods. By all beliefs and rituals as stated, four roles affecting Phuket Province are observed, including 1) mental role; 2) social role; 3) economic role; and 4) cultural role. Inconclusion, the four shrines are religious places assisting in conservation of culture which is the root of Chinese Hokkien; the shrines are also inheritance learning centers for later generations
