การสื่อสารข้ามวัฒนธรรมและการปรับตัวของนักเรียนชาวไทยในสหรัฐอเมริกา: กรณีศึกษา YouTuber ช่อง YouTube “Kayavine”

Abstract

งานวิจัยเรื่อง การสื่อสารข้ามวัฒนธรรมและการปรับตัวของนักเรียนชาวไทยในสหรัฐอเมริกา: กรณีศึกษา YouTuber ช่อง YouTube “Kayavine” มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์ความสามารถการสื่อสารข้ามวัฒนธรรมและการปรับตัวทางวัฒนธรรมของนักเรียนชาวไทยในสหรัฐอเมริกา: กรณีศึกษา YouTuber ช่อง YouTube "Kayavine" เลือกกลุ่มตัวอย่างแบบเจาะจง คือคลิปวิดีโอที่เกี่ยวกับการเรียนและการใช้ชีวิตในโรงเรียนสหรัฐอเมริกาของผู้จัดทำ จำนวน 10 คลิป ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ประเด็นความสามารถในการสื่อสารข้ามวัฒนธรรมของ YouTuber ในช่อง YouTube "Kayavine" มี 2 ด้าน คือ 1) มีความสามารถในการตีความผ่าน อวัจนภาษา โดยสามารถตีความจากสถานการณ์ ปฏิกิริยา สีหน้าของชาวอเมริกา และมีปฏิกิริยาตอบสนองอย่างเหมาะสม 2) มีความสามารถทางการสื่อสารด้านทักษะการใช้ภาษาอังกฤษด้านการฟัง พูด อ่าน เขียนภาษาอังกฤษ แต่ยังขาดความรู้ในการเข้าใจและการใช้คำศัพท์หลายความหมายตามความเคยชินของคนท้องถิ่นและพบว่าประเด็นการปรับตัว มี 4 ด้าน คือ 1) เรื่องการเรียนในโรงเรียน คือต้องวางแผนวิชาเรียนเองในระดับโรงเรียน 2) เรื่องรูปแบบการเข้าห้องเรียน คือต้องเปลี่ยนเป็นเดินไปหาอาจารย์ผู้สอนและเรียนในห้องประจำของอาจารย์ 3) เรื่องทัศนคติที่มีต่อเวลา คือต้องเคร่งครัด ตรงต่อเวลาและ 4) เรื่องการรับประทาน ลดการใช้ซอสกับอาหารที่ปรุงซอสเรียบร้อย ทั้งนี้เพื่อหาจุดสมดุลในการอยู่ร่วมกับคนในสังคมต่างวัฒนธรรมและใช้ชีวิตในต่างประเทศได้ง่ายขึ้น

The research Cross-Cultural Communication and Adaptation of Thai Students in the United States of America: a Case Study of YouTuber in YouTube Channel “Kayavine”, aimed to analyzing the cross-cultural communication ability and the cultural adaptation of Thai students in the United States of America: a case study of YouTuber in YouTube channel "Kayavine". Purposive sampling, ten selected video clips related to high school and college life in the U.S.A. of the author, was applied for studying. For research findings, YouTuber K's ability to communicate across cultures on the YouTube channel "Kayavine" has two aspects: the ability to interpret meaning through non-verbal language; which can be interpreted from the situation, reaction, facial expression of Americans and react appropriately; got the ability to communicate in English language for listening, speaking, reading and writing, but still lacks the knowledge of understanding and using words according to the habits of the local people. For cultural adaptation, four aspects were found, including an adaptation in terms of school studies and planning their own subjects of study at the secondary level. An adaptation in terms of the format of the classes, going to find the classroom where the teacher of the class is fixed and attending there. An adaptation in terms of attitude towards time, to become punctual. Also an adaptation in terms of eating methods, reduce the use of sauces on foods that have already been prepared with sauces. In order to find an easier balance in getting along with people from different cultures and living abroad.
