Thailand is one of the countries along the “Belt and Road” and attaches great importance to Chinese language and Chinese language teaching. Chinese is increasingly becoming a compulsory foreign language for Thai students, with the purpose of using Chinese for economic and cultural exchanges between the two countries. Therefore, oral Chinese teaching is a necessary and important content in Thai Chinese teaching. For foreigners whose native language is not Chinese, learning spoken Chinese will bring many difficulties. One of the reasons is that there are still some teaching problems in our spoken Chinese teaching. This study aims to examine the language habits used by Chinese and Thai employees in the office and how these findings can be applied to basic business Chinese courses. Using quantitative and qualitative research methods, we compiled a list of common office terms used by Chinese and Thai employees in their daily work, and analyzed the frequency and context of use in various situations. Research shows that Chinese and Thai employees prefer to use polite and formal language in office communication, while also focusing on communication efficiency. These research results provide practical cases and background for designing basic business Chinese course teaching, helping students better understand and apply language skills in work situations. In terms of teaching design, we provide inquiry-based course modules designed to develop students' oral expression skills in Chinese and Thai business environments. This module includes teaching activities such as simulated real workplace conversations, role-playing and discussion analysis to ensure that students can apply the language skills they have learned in real work. Through this study, we hope to provide practical guidance for the teaching of basic business Chinese speaking classes so that students can become more confident and fluent in Sino-Thai business communication.
