ความเชื่อและพิธีกรรมที่เกี่ยวข้องกับศาลเจ้าแม่ทับทิมของคนไทยเชื้อสายจีนในย่านเยาวราช

Abstract

การศึกษาเรื่องนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความเชื่อและพิธีกรรมที่เกี่ยวข้องกับศาลเจ้าแม่ทับทิมของคนไทยเชื้อสายจีนในย่านเยาวราช และเพื่อวิเคราะห์บทบาทของความเชื่อและพิธีกรรมที่เกี่ยวข้องกับศาลเจ้าแม่ทับทิมที่มีต่อสังคมไทยในย่านเยาวราช งานวิจัยนี้เป็นงานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพโดยใช้แบบสัมภาษณ์เป็นเครื่องมือในการเก็บข้อมูลเบื้องต้น ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ศาลเจ้าแม่ทับทิมวัดเกาะ ศาลเจ้าแม่ประดู่และศาลเจ้าแม่อาม้าเก็ง ทั้ง 3 แห่งนี้เป็นศาลเจ้าแม่ทับทิมและตั้งอยู่ในย่านเยาวราช มีรูปเคารพจีนทั้งหมด 17 รูป รูปเคารพหลัก คือ เจ้าแม่ทับทิม (มาจู่) และมีรูปเคารพรององค์อื่นๆ ด้วย เจ้าแม่ทับทิมเป็นเทพเจ้าที่มีความเมตตาและมีพลังอำนาจมาก สามารถช่วยผู้คนในด้านต่างๆ เช่น ในด้านความปลอดภัย เดินทางไม่ประสบอุบัติเหตุ ด้านการค้าขาย ค้าขายเจริญรุ่งเรือง ด้านการขอบุตร ผู้หญิงได้มีลูก ด้านขอให้พบคู่รัก ผู้ที่มากราบไหว้ได้พบคู่รัก ช่วยให้สุขภาพแข็งแรง ช่วยทำให้สบายใจ อุ่นใจ และทำให้เกิดความเข้มแข็งทางจิตใจ ชาวจีนและชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนจึงจัดตั้งศาลเจ้าแม่ทับทิมเพื่อแสดงความเคารพและจัดพิธีกรรมต่างๆ ที่ศาลเจ้า ในวันปกติจะมีคนมากราบไหว้และจุดธูป จะมีผลไม้ ดอกไม้ ขนม และเผากระดาษเงินกระดาษทองเพื่อทำการบูชา ส่วนวันเทศกาลของแต่ละศาลเจ้าจะไม่ค่อยเหมือนกัน จากการลงทำงนภาคสนามและสัมภาษณ์ ทำให้ผู้วิจัยได้เข้าใจชัดเจนว่า ศาลเจ้าแม่ทับทิมวัดเกาะมี วันเทศกาล 4 ครั้งเป็นงานประจำปี ศาลเจ้าแม่ประดู่และศาลเจ้าอาม้มเก็งมีวันเทศกาล 3 ครั้ง พิธีกรรมต่างๆ ที่เกี่ยวกับศาลเจ้าแม่ทับทิมตามความเชื่อของชาวจีน มีบทบาทต่อสังคมอย่างมาก ไม่ว่าบทบาทต่อมนุษย์ในด้านจิตใจและวิถีชีวิต บทบาทต่อเศรษฐกิจในด้านการค้าขายและการท่องเที่ยว บทบาทต่อสังคมด้านคุณธรรมจริยธรรมและการเป็นศูนย์รวมใจ สร้างความสามัคคี และบทบาทต่อวัฒนธรรมในด้านการสืบทอดวัฒนธรรมจีนและการผสมผสานกับวัฒนธรรมไทย

This research aimed to study beliefs and rites relating to the shrines of Tubtim Goddess located in Yaowarach Chinatown. Also, their roles afftected to members in the area studied were analyzed. The study is a qualitative research; a questionnaire was used as an information gathering device. Three shrines of Tubtim Goddess were studied, including the Tubtim Goddess shrine at Watkoh; the Prado Goddess shrine; and the Ah-ma-keng shrine. All three were identified as the shrine of Tubtim Goddess located in Yauwarach area. Total seventeen sacred images were counted which Tubtim Goddess (Maju) was the principal and others were minor. People believed that the Tubtim Goddess possessed compassion and power and could support the worshippers in many ways, including safety transportation; prosperous trading; children or spouses providing; and good health, physical and mental, bestowing. Because of the stated prestige, both Chinese and Thai people in Yaowarach area then established the shrines of Tubtim Goddess and started the worship rites. The annual rites of each shrine were different, except the everyday normal rites which fruits, flowers, desserts, silver and gold paper, and incense sticks and candles were used as worshipping materials. Four annual worships were held at Watkoh shrine of Tuntim Goddess, while three annual worships at the other two shrines. Roles of the beliefs and rites relating to the shrines of Tubtim Goddess have a lot affected to Thai-Chinese people in many aspect, including the mental side; ways of living; trading; and tourism. The shrines were as a center of spirit and unity of their communities. They also blended the two cultures of Thai and Chinese people together.
