Abstract

วัฒนธรรมแต้จิ๋วเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของวัฒนธรรมจีนที่มีเอกลักษณ์พิเศษเฉพาะตน ชาวจีนแต้จิ๋วเป็นกลุ่มชาวจีนอพยพที่มีจํานวนประชากรมากที่สุดในประเทศไทย ทําให้วัฒนธรรมของชาวจีนแต้จิ๋วกลายเป็นตัวแทนของวัฒนธรรมจีนทั้งหมดในการรับรู้ของคนไทยโดยทั่วไป ทั้งยังเกิดการผสมกลมกลืนของวัฒนธรรมไทย-จีนแต้จิ๋วจนกลายเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของวัฒนธรรมไทยในปัจจุบัน บทความนี้นําเสนอที่มา มูลเหตุ ตลอดจนปัจจัยของการอพยพโยกย้ายถิ่นฐานของชาวจีนแต้จิ๋ว ภาพรวมของวัฒนธรรมชาวจีนแต้จิ๋วโพ้นทะเลและคนไทยเชื้อสายจีนแต้จิ๋ว อีกทั้งการรับและการแลกเปลี่ยนของสองวัฒนธรรมระหว่างไทย-จีน ในด้านภาษา อาหาร ดนตรีและศิลปะ ค่านิยมทางสังคม จารีตประเพณี และการผสมกลมกลืนของวัฒนธรรมไทย-จีนผ่านพิธีกรรมความเชื่อตามช่วงวัยที่สอดแทรกอยู่ในวิถีชีวิต ในบทความนี้ได้ยกตัวอย่างประเพณีแต้จิ๋วในวงจรชีวิตของคนไทยเชื้อสายจีน แต้จิ๋วที่ ยังมีการปฏิบัติสืบทอดอยู่ในประเทศไทยคําสําคัญ: ชาวจีนแต้จิ๋ววัฒนธรรม ชาวจีนโพ้นทะเลประเพณีความเชื่อพิธีกรรม

Teochew is a subculture of the Chinese cultures that has its own characteristics. Teochew Chinese group is the most populated Overseas Chinese people in Thailand. That makes Teochew cultures so prominent that they were regarded as representations of the Chinese cultures by common Thai people. That results in a mix of Thai and Teochew cultures that brought about the new local cultures in Thailand. This article explains causes and factors that led Chinese people to migrate from their homeland. We also investigate different aspects of Overseas Teochew cultures and how they fit in with the local Thai cultures such as languages, cuisines, music and arts, social values, beliefs and ceremonies in their lives. We discuss adoptions and adaptations between Teochew cultures and local Thai cultures. We give an example of some Teochew traditions still preserved among ethnic Teochew-Thai people.
