“趣味”与“借镜”——《西风》中的美国现代文化

Abstract

《西风》月刊（1936-1949）提倡个性化、趣味性的通俗散文，刊登了大量介 绍美国现代文化的翻译和创作文章，传播和普及最新的科学知识，引介和推广最新的 思想观念，对中国读者起到开阔眼界、指导生活的作用，也促使读者认清中国与世界 的差距，激起效法与革新的愿望，在现代中国具有文化启蒙的积极意义。

In the West Wind Monthly (1937-1949), by the editors calling for personal, interesting and informal essays, lots of articles (translation or writing) were published to introduce the American modern cultures, including advanced knowledges of science and technology, and pioneering thoughts and ideas. These interesting and enlightening articles not only helped Chinese readers expand their horizon of the world and improve their lifestyle, but also led them to a sober awareness of China’s backwardness and hence an urgent willingness to make China move forward following the Western examples.
