การเปรียบเทียบภาพแทนของผู้หญิงในนวนิยายย้อนเวลาเรื่อง บุพเพสันนิวาส

Abstract

บทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์เปรียบเทียบภาพแทนของผู้หญิงในนวนิยายย้อนเวลา เรื่อง บุพเพสันนิวาส โดยศึกษาจาก ตัวละครเอกที่ชื่อ เกศสุรางค์หรือการะเกด และใช้ทฤษฎีภาพแทนเป็นหลัก ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ภาพแทนผู้หญิงในปัจจุบันและอดีตในนวนิยายย้อนเวลาเรื่อง บุพเพสันนิวาส มีทั้งความเหมือนและความแตกต่างกัน สามารถแบ่งเป็น 4 ด้าน ได้แก่ รูปลักษณ์ ความสามารถ นิสัยและบทบาท ภาพแทนของผู้หญิงด้านรูปลักษณ์ทั้งในอดีตและปัจจุบันต่างให้ความสำคัญกับเรื่องความงามของรูปร่างหน้าตา โดยภาพแทนของผู้หญิงในปัจจุบัน คือ ผู้หญิงที่มีรูปลักษณ์ไม่สวยงามสามารถปรับเปลี่ยนให้สวยงามได้ แต่ภาพแทนของผู้หญิงในอดีต ผู้หญิงที่มีรูปลักษณ์สวยงามแล้วยังต้องรู้จักบำรุงรักษาความงามให้คงอยู่ ภาพแทนของผู้หญิงด้านความสามารถ พบว่า ผู้หญิงในอดีตเป็นแม่เรือนต้องรู้จักทำงานบ้าน แต่ในปัจจุบัน ผู้หญิงมีความสามารถทางการบ้านการเรือนและมีความรู้เพื่อการประกอบอาชีพ ภาพแทนของผู้หญิงด้านลักษณะนิสัย พบว่า ผู้หญิงปัจจุบันเป็นผู้หญิงทั้งมีจิตเมตตาและกล้าหาญ แต่ผู้หญิงในอดีตเป็นคนที่เรียบร้อยและความอ่อนแอ ส่วนภาพแทนของผู้หญิงด้านสถานภาพทางสังคม ผู้หญิงในอดีตเป็นแม่เรือนที่ดูแลงานบ้านงานเรือนภายในครอบครัว แต่ผู้หญิงปัจจุบันเป็นแม่เรือน และเป็นผู้ที่ได้รับโอกาสในการศึกษา ความแตกต่างของภาพแทนผู้หญิงเหล่านี้ เกิดจากความเปลี่ยนแปลงทางด้านการเมือง สภาพสังคม การศึกษา และทัศนคติที่มีต่อผู้หญิงของคนในสังคมไทย

This research aimed to comparatively analyze representations of women, focusing on the protagonist called Gate-su-rang or Gala-kate, in the periodical novel called Buppesanniwas by representation theories. It was found that representations of a woman at present versus in the past were both the same and different in four aspects, including appearances; abilities; characters; and roles. For the appearance, both women in the past and at present prioritized countenance beauty. The present woman, though unattractive, was able to adjust her beauty; while the woman in the past, though attractive, still had to nourish her beauty. On the ability aspect, representations of the woman in the past focused on a capable housewife; while the present woman was both efficient in household management and profession. For the character aspect, the present women were compassionate and brave; however, the woman in the past were polite and delicate. For social status, the woman in the past mainly involved with her household duties, yet the present one held both roles dealing with housework and taking educational opportunities. Eventually, the differences of stated representations of women were fruitfulness of political; social; educational changes and progressive attitudes toward women in Thai society.
