Abstract: This paper presents the design of exoskeleton based on continuous passive motion treatment (CPM) and medium temperature treatment. A prototype of the device was fabricated using 9 DoFs from 3 joints of PIP and MCP in 4 fingers (Index, Middle, Ring, and Pinky) that pinned together with 1 DoF of WRIST (Flexion /Extension). The optimal size of hand rehabilitation for male is device 84 mm wide and 189 mm long. It was suitable for standard male and easy to use. The virtual testing in a computer program found that it can be use to function and also adjust the speed of therapy as desired. The result of image testing by healthy male found that the optimal size of hand rehabilitation is device 84 mm wide and 189 mm long. A compact reconstruction device was designed using hot compress gloves with hot water circulation to rehabilitate the swelling hand in chronic stroke patient. DC motor was used to drive system. Treatment time was set for 20 minutes. The user can adjust the speed control of the motion as required. This device is based on simple design, easy to use and not expensive, has been presented. This protocol may usable in daily practice to improve hand function and prevent hand edema in chronic stroke patient. Testing of the device on actual stroke survivors and further discussions with the therapist for suggestion is necessary for modification.
