Abstract: Thailand is committed to the continuous development of its logistics systems particularly in road freight transportation which accounts for 80 percent of the country’s total transport volume. Although road transport plays a vital role in supporting the economy, it is also a major source of pollution due to engine combustion resulting in greenhouse gas emissions and global warming. Therefore, Thailand has placed importance on enhancing the efficiency of its road logistics system to strengthen trade competitiveness while mitigating environmental impacts. In addition, Thailand has implemented various measures to promote the production and adoption of green alternative energy vehicles by 2030 in line with the national strategy towards becoming a low carbon country in the future. For this study, case studies were compiles from several countries that have successfully adopted green alternative energy in developing road transport systems in a tangible and implementable manner namely France, the Netherlands, Germany, and South Korea. These countries have introduced policies and approaches aimed at reducing air pollution, lowering carbon footprints and global warming while simultaneously improving road transport efficiency to maximize business benefits. Their efforts also contribute to establishing a solid foundation for sustainable green logistics. Currently, many countries around the world have advanced their transportation systems by integrating smart technologies with modern management practices such as using electric and hydrogen vehicles, installing monitoring cameras in low emission zones, and promoting shared public transportation through single digital platforms. Although Thailand does not yet have comprehensive and clearly defined policy framework comparable to those developed nations. Strong supports from both the public and private sectors through policy development, incentive measures, and infrastructure enhancements driven by multi-stakeholder collaboration would significantly accelerate the transition towards a green road transport system. These efforts would help Thailand achieve its national strategic goals and foster long-term environmentally sustainable development.
