This study aims to explore the current situation of Chinese language learning among high school students in Songkhla Province, Thailand, and put forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions. As an important city in southwest Thailand, Songkhla Province in Thailand has a unique geographical location, frequent exchanges with Malaysia, and a large number of Chinese speakers. Against this background, studying the Chinese learning situation of high school students in Songkhla Province is of great significance for promoting the internationalization of Chinese education, because it helps to promote Sino-Thai cultural exchanges, optimize the sharing of educational resources, guide language policy formulation, and support regional Economic development, improving the international level of Thai education and promoting educational equity. Through methods such as questionnaires, interviews, and field observations, this study conducted an in-depth analysis of the current situation of Chinese teaching in Hat Yai Phayakorn School and found that there are problems such as insufficient class arrangements, weak teachers, and lack of teaching resources. These problems affect students' interest in learning and the improvement of their Chinese proficiency. At the same time, the study also found that students’ purpose of learning Chinese is mainly out of interest and cultural exchange, rather than career development or academic needs. In response to the above problems, this study puts forward a series of countermeasures and suggestions. First of all, schools should increase the number of classes and investment in Chinese teaching to ensure that students have enough time and resources to learn Chinese. Secondly, strengthen the construction of the Chinese teaching team, improve the professional quality and teaching ability of teachers, and retain outstanding teachers through systematic training and career development opportunities. In addition, schools should cooperate with governments, enterprises and other educational institutions to jointly promote the development of Chinese education, provide more practical opportunities and career development paths, and stimulate students' enthusiasm for learning. The conclusion of this study is that by improving the current situation of Chinese language teaching in Songkhla Province, Thailand, the Chinese proficiency of local students can be effectively improved, cultural exchanges between China and Thailand can be promoted, mutual understanding can be enhanced, and regional economic development can be promoted. With the further advancement of the “Belt and Road” initiative, the status and role of Chinese education in Thailand will become more prominent, which is of great significance to enhancing Thailand’s national competitiveness and promoting China-Thailand friendly relations. |
