Abstract:
This paper described the design and development of arm and shoulder exercise games that use the Kinect sensor to capture the user’s hand, arm, and shoulder motion. The motion data from the sensor are processed on the PC to move the target object on screen. The game mission is to move the object by hand from start position to final position along a path. The hit score will be increased if the object hit the wall. User data along with the hit score were recorded on the relational database management system (RDBMS) for data analysis. Preliminary test results were obtained by students and staffs at Huachiew Chalermprakiet University. Its validity was confirmed by position feedback of the test users. In the future, the accuracy and the training phase operations of the game will be improved. It will also cover the full range of motion (ROM) of the shoulder to fully apply for the frozen shoulder problem in the elderly.
