การศึกษาเชิงคติชนวิทยา : การตั้งชื่อคลองและชื่อบ้านในเขตอำเภอบางพลี จังหวัดสมุทรปราการ

Abstract

รายงานการวิจัยเรื่องนี้ เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ ที่เน้นศึกษาจากการลงภาคสนามและเอกสารเป็นสำคัญ โดยมีความมุ่งหมายให้ทราบถึงความเป้นมาของชื่อคลองและหมู่บ้านริมคลองในอดีตของอำเภอบางพลี จังหวัดสมุทรปราการ รวมทั้งบทบาทและความสำคัญของคลองและหมู่บ้านริมคลองที่เปลี่ยนแปลงจากอดีตสู่ปัจจุบัน โดยใช้วิธีสัมภาษณ์ พูดคุยกับผู้สูงอายุ ผู้รู้ในท้องถิ่น ผู้นำชุมชน และพระภิกษุ รวมทั้งการสังเกตลักษณะทางกายภาพของสถานที่ต่าง ๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้อง ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ชื่อคลองและชื่อหมู่บ้านริมคลอง ในอำเภอบางพลี จังหวัดสมุทรปราการ ส่วนใหญ่ตั้งชื่อตามสภาพแวดล้อมและทรัพยากรทางธรรมชาติ ตั้งชื่อตามบุคคลและตามความเชื่อของคนในท้องถิ่น คลองในอดีตเป็นแหล่งทำกิน เช่น ทำประมง เลี้ยงสัตว์น้ำและอาศัยเป็นเส้นทางคมนาคมไปมาหาสู่กันระหว่างหมู่บ้าน ส่งผลถึงการอพยพเข้ามาของคนในพื้นต่าง ๆ ในอำเภอบางพลี จนเกิดเป็นหมู่บ้านภายใต้วิถีชีวิตแบบสังคมชาวนา ปัจจุบันเมื่ออำเภอบางพลีพัฒนาเป็นเมืองอุตสาหกรรม มีลักษณะของเมืองกึ่งชนบท คลองหลายสายไม่สามารถใช้ประโยชน์ได้ เพราะคนส่วนใหญ่สัญจรทางบกแล้ว ทำให้คนไม่ให้ความสนใจและให้ความสำคัญกับคลองจนอาจกลายเป็นพื้นที่รับน้ำเสียและอาจตื้นเขินไป ดังนั้นแนวโน้มที่มาของชื่อคลองในอนาคตอาจจะไม่มีใครทราบที่มา อย่างไรก็ตามหากจะพลิกฟื้นคลองให้กลับคืน ต้องอาศัยภาครัฐสนับสนุน ชี้แนะและประสานไปยังภาคส่วนที่เกี่ยวข้อง ที่สำคัญคือความร่วมมือจากผู้ที่อยู่อาศัยริมคลอง ในการรณรงค์รื้นฟื้นประวัติศาสตร์พร้อมกับการสร้างสุขภาวะแวดล้อมของคลองและบริเวณโดยรอบให้ดีและยั่งยืน

This study is a qualitative research mainly emphasizing on fieldworks and documents. It is aimed at finding out how the names of the canals and villages along them are denominated, including the roles of the canals and villages which have been changing from the past to the present time. This is conducted through the interviews and the talks with the elderly, the scholars, the leaders, and the monks in the districts. Moreover, observation of the external physical image of relevant places around the districts is also added. It is found that the names of the canals and villages in Bangplee district, Samutprakarn, are mainly determined by the natural environment surrounding the area, natural resources, its people and their beliefs. In the past, the canals were the places for people in the districts to earn their living: fisheries, fish farms, growing water plants, and travelling by boat from village, which resulted in the immigration of people from other areas, and then the villages of farmers and fishermen. At present, Bangplee district has been changing substantially. It has been urbanized, becoming an industrial area, having more streets, factories, etc. Many canals cannot be used for travelling any more because most people travel on land, and they are not interested in using them as a means of transportation. People do not realize their value and at present, they have been drained with wastewater and gradually become shallow. Because of these reasons, in the future, the people are unlikely able to trace origin of some canals. However, the renovation of the canals can be done by the supports from the government and the cooperation of relevant sectors, especially the people living along the canals to help make them a better and sustainable environment.
