งานวิจัยชิ้นนี้ศึกษาภาษาศาสตร์เชิงภูมิทัศน์จำนวน 694 รูปในเมืองหนานหนิง 4 เขต คือ ถนน Huo Ju [HJR] ถนนคนเดิน [WS] จัตุรัส Wu Xiang [WXS] และศูนย์นิทรรศการนานาชาติของเมืองหนานหนิง [NICEC] ในระยะเวลาที่แตกต่างกันตั้งแต่ 9.00 ถึง 17.00 น. (1) ระหว่างวันที่ 20 เดือนมิถุนายน ถึง วันที่ 9 เดือน กรกฎาคม ปี พ.ศ. 2557 (2) ระหว่างวันที่ 27 เดือนธันวาคม ปี พ.ศ. 2557 ถึงวันที่ 3 เดือนมกราคม ปี พ.ศ. 2558 (3) ระหว่างวันที่ 11 เดือนเมษายน ถึง วันที่ 18 เดือนเมษายน ปี พ.ศ. 2558 วัตถุประสงค์ของงานวิจัยชิ้นนี้ คือ (1) เพื่อวิเคราะห์คุณลักษณะทางภาษาศาสตร์ของภาษาศาสตร์เชิงภูมิทัศน์ที่เมืองหนานหนิง (2) เพื่อแสวงหาหลักฐานของอิทธิพลของภาษาอังกฤษที่มีต่อภาษาศาสตร์เชิงภูมิทัศน์ที่เมืองหนานหนิง โดยวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลและจำแนกออกเป็น (1) จำนวนของภาษา (2) ลักษณะทางภาษาศาสตร์ของภาษาอังกฤษและภาษาจีน (3) การปนภาษา (4) ลักษณะของการประกอบกิจการ (5) ภาษาศาสตร์เชิงภูมิทัศน์แบบทางการและแบบไม่ทางการ และ (6) การแปลตรงตัวและการแปลไม่ตรงตัว (7) องค์ประกอบของภาษาศาสตร์เชิงภูมิทัศน์ ในการศึกษาคุณลักษณะทางภาษาศาสตร์งานวิจัยชิ้นนี้ พบว่า คุณลักษณะของภาษาของภาษาศาสตร์เชิงภูมิทัศน์ที่เมืองหนานหนิงที่พบมากที่สุด คือ วลีจำนวน 787 วลี (72.20%) ตามด้วยคำจำนวน 248 คำ (22.75%) และรูปแบบประโยคจำนวน 55 ประโยค (5.05%) ในการศึกษาหลักฐานที่บ่งบอกถึงอิทธิพลของภาษาอังกฤษในภาษาศาสตร์เชิงภูมิทัศน์ที่เมืองหนานหนิง งานวิจัยชิ้นนี้ พบว่า (1) รูปแบบภาษาศาสตร์เชิงภูมิทัศน์ที่พบมากที่สุดในเขตพื้นที่ทั้ง 4 เขตของเมืองหนานหนิง คือ รูปแบบที่ใช้ทั้งภาษาจีนและภาษาอังกฤษมีจำนวน 527 รูป (75.94%) (2) รูปแบบที่พบมากที่สุดของการปนภาษาเป็นการปนภาษาระหว่างภาษาจีนและภาษาอังกฤษมีจำนวน 533 รูป (79.68%) (3) ลักษณะของการประกอบกิจการที่พบมากที่สุดในเขตพื้นที่ทั้ง 4 เขตของเมืองหนานหนิงคือ สถานประกอบการธุรกิจจำนวน 372 รูป (65.38%) ซึ่งเป็นรูปแบบที่ประกอบไปด้วยภาษาอังกฤษอย่างเดียว และสองภาษารวมกันระหว่างภาษาจีนกับภาษาอังกฤษ (4) ควาถี่ที่สูงของสองภาษารวมกันระหว่างภาษาจีนและภาษาอังกฤษและภาษาอังกฤษอย่างเดียวพบได้ในทั้งภาษาศาสตร์เชิงภูมิทัศน์แบบทางการจำนวน 225 รูป (94.94%) และไม่ทางการจำนวน 296 รูป (89.16%) (5) ในเขตพื้นที่ทั้ง 4 เขตที่ศึกษาภาษาศาสตร์เชิงภูมิทัศน์ที่แปลตรงตัวมีจำนวนมากที่สุด จำนวน 297 รูป (65.71%) (6) องค์ประกอบของภาษาศาสตร์เชิงภูมิทัศน์พบภาษาจีนปรากฏในตำแหน่งบนจำนวน 293 รูป (74.18%) ภาษาอังกฤษปรากฏในตำแหน่งล่างจำนวน 306 รูป (77.27%) จึงสรุปได้ว่าภาษาอังกฤษมีอิทธิพลต่อภาษาศาสตร์เชิงภูมิทัศน์ที่เมืองหนานหนิง
This paper examines 694 photos of linguistic landscapes (LLs) in the four main areas of Nanning City (Huo Ju Road) [HJR], Walking Street [WS], Wu Xiang Square [WXS] and Nanning International Convention and Exhibition Center [NICEC] during different tine periods: (1) June 20 to July 9, 2014, (2) December 27, 2014 to January 3, 2015 and (3) April 11 to April 18, 2015. The objectives of this study are (1) to analyze the linguistic features of the LLs in Nanning City, and (2) to identify evidences of the influnce of English in LLs in Nanning City. The data are categorizes and analyzed according to (1) number of languages (Wang, 2013), (2) English and Chinese linguistic features (Aart, 2001; Li & Cheng, 1988), (3) code-mixing (Huebner, 2006), (4) activity types (Wang, 2013), (5) official and non-officail LLs Backhaus (2006; see also Backhaus, 2007), (6) mutual or non-mutual translations Backhaus (2006; see also Backhaus, 2007), (7) composition (Kress & Van Leeuwen, 2006). In terms of linsuistic features, this study found that the most frequent linguistic feature of the LLs in Nanning City is phrase (N=787, 72.20%), followed word (N=248, 22.75%) and sentence (N=55, 5.05%). As for the evidences that suggest the influence of English in LLs in Nanning City, this study found that the most frequent types of LLs in the four main areas of Nanning City are (1) bilingual in Chinese and English (N= 527, 75.94%), (2) LLs with a language mix of Chinese and English (N= 553, 79.68%), (3) Business Establishments (BE) types of LLs (N= 372, 65.38%), where patterns of languages are monolingual in English and bilingual in Chinese and English, (4) high frequency of bilingual Chinese and English as well as monolingual English in both officail (N= 225, 94.94%) and non-offical (N= 296, 89.16%) LLs, (5) high frequency of mutually translatedd LLs (N= 297, 65.71%), and (6) multimodally, the LLs have the highest percentage of Chinese scripts (N= 293, 74.18%) on upper zone or 'ideal' zone, while English scripts (N= 306, 77.27%) in the lower zone or 'real' zone. While the Chinese language remains to be the main language in the LLs of Nanning City, the high frequuencies of English (e.g. on bilingual English and Chinese LLs) Scripts on the LLs indicate the strong presence of English language on these LLs and in the various activities these LLs are used.
