การศึกษาเปรียบเทียบคำย่อในหนังสือพิมพ์ไทยและจีน

Abstract

การวิจัยเรื่องนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาและเปรียบเทียบลักษณะของคำย่อและการใช้คำย่อในภาษาไทยและจีน ด้านความเหมือนและความแตกต่างของคำย่อในภาษาไทยและจีน โดยรวบรวมคำย่อไทยจำนวน 303 คำจากหนังสือพิมพ์ไทยสองฉบับคือ ไทยรัฐและเดลินิวส์ คำย่อจีนจำนวน 294 คำจากหนังสือพิมพ์จีนสองฉบับ คือ 参考消息 "ชานข่าวเซียวซี" และ 人民日报 "เหยินหมินยื่อเป้า" ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ลักษณะของคำย่อไทยมี 5 ประเภท คือ 1) ย่อคำโดยใช้พยัญชนะต้นของคำแล้วใส่มหัพภาคไว้ท้ายพยัญชนะต้นซึ่งมีน้อยกว่าสองพยางค์ 2) ย่อคำโดยใช้พยัญชนะต้นของคำแล้วใส่มหัพภาคไว้ท้ายพยัญชนะต้นซึ่งมีมากกว่าหนึ่งพยางค์ 3) ย่อคำเต็มส่วนใดส่วนหนึ่ง แล้วใส่มหัพภาคหรือไปยาลน้อย 4) ย่อคำรวมกับตัวเลข 5) ย่อคำที่ยืมมาจากภาษาอังกฤษ ส่วนลักษณะของคำย่อจีนไม่มีเครื่องหมายกำกับแบ่งเป็น 5 ประเภท คือ 1) คำย่อแบบย่อรวม โดยใช้หน่วยคำที่สำคัญทั้งหมดมารวมเป็นคำย่อ 2) คำย่อบางส่วน โดยใช้ส่วนใดส่วนหนึ่งของคำเต็มมาเป็นคำย่อ 3) คำย่อที่ใช้ตัวเลข 4) คำย่อโดยใช้ตัวพยัญชนะต้นในการออกเสียงภาษาจีนมาเป็นคำย่อ 5) คำย่อจีนที่ยืมมาจากภาษาอังกฤษ ความเหมือนของลักษณะคำย่อไทยและจีน คือ 1) คำย่อที่มีตัวเลข 2) คำย่อที่ยืมมาจากภาษาอังกฤษ 3) วิธีการใช้คำย่อ สำหรับความแตกต่างของลักษณะคำย่อมี 5 ด้าน คือ 1) คำย่อไทยแบบใช้ตัวเลขมีน้อยและคำกริยาจำนวนมาก 3) การอ่านคำย่อไทยอ่านเป็นคำเต็ม ส่วนคำย่อจีนสามารถอ่านเป็นคำย่อได้ 4) คำย่อไทยมีเครื่องหมายมหัพภาค ส่วนคำย่อจีนส่วนใหญ่ไม่ใช้เครื่องหมายใดๆ

This research aimed to comparatively study abbreviations as appeared on Thai and Chinese newspapers in order to note the similarity and difference of their styles. 303 abbreviations are selected from two Thai newspapers: Thairath and Daily News, and 294 words from two Chinese newspapers: Reference News and People's Daily are studied. The research findings are: first, relating to the style five characteristics of Thai abbreviations are found, which are 1) using the first alphabet of each word with periods (punctuation), 2) using the first alphabet of some syllables with compound words, 3) cutting short the full words and adding a period or the omitting-word sign (ฯ) 4) using abbreviations with numbers, and 5) using English short words. For Chinese abbreviations, there also are 5 styles : 1)the compressed abbreviations, mixing key parts of characters (words) 2) partly omitting, using some parts of the word, 3) using abbreviations with numbers, 4) using the first pin-in sound, and 5) using English short words. The second finding, relating to the similarity and difference of Thai and Chinese abbreviations, three similarities are found: 1) the shared styles of Thai and Chinese abbreviations are: using abbreviations with numbers, using English short words and the partly omitting 2) English abbreviations are used in three ways: copying the original, using some parts of the full words, and using Thai or Chinese alphabets to copy the original English pronunciation, and 3) the usage of both Thai and Chinese abbreviations are the same. Regarding the difference, four characteristics are found: 1) the abbreviation with numbers is less often using in Thai than in Chinese 2) most of Thai abbreviations are nouns, very less verbs are found, while Chinese abbreviations are generally both nouns and verbs, 3) Thai abbreviations are read in full words, while abbreviated reading is generally used for Chinese abbreviations, and 4) Thai abbreviations are always written with periods, while no punctuation is needed in Chinese abbreviations.
