การศึกษานี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความสามารถในการยับยั้งเชื้อแบคทีเรียที่แยกได้จากน้ำลาย โดยใช้น้ำยาบ้วนปากที่มีขายตามท้องตลาด 3 สูตร ตัวอย่างน้ำลายจากอาสาสมัครจำนวน 15 รายมาแยกเชื้อแบคทีเรีย เพื่อศึกษาความสามารถในการสลายเม็ดเลือดแดง การใช้ออกซิเจนและลักษณะทางสัณฐานวิทยา พบว่าจำนวนเชื้อที่แยกได้มีความสัมพันธ์กับจำนวนฟันผุและค่า pH ของน้ำลาย การยับยั้งเชื้อด้วยวิธี agar well diffusion พบว่าน้ำยาบ้วนปากสูตร A สามารถยับยั้งเชื้อได้ทุกไอโซเลตที่ทำการทดสอบ และความสามารถในการยับยั้งเชื้อของน้ำยาบ้วนปากสูตร A, B และ C มีความแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ p<0.05 การศึกษาการฆ่าเชื้อด้วยวิธี time kill study พบว่าน้ำยาบ้วนปากสูตร A สามารถฆ่าเชื้อได้หมดทุกไอโซเลตตั้งแต่นาทีที่ 1 โดยสูตร B และ C สามารถฆ่าเชื้อได้ทั้งหมดในนาทีที่ 7 และ 5 นาที ตามลำดับ และเชื้อที่แยกได้จากน้ำลายของอาสาสมัครอายุน้อยกว่าหรือเท่ากับ 5 ขวบเมื่อทดสอบกับน้ำยาบ้วนปากสูตร B ต้องใช้เวลา 7 นาทีถึงจะฆ่าเชื้อได้ทั้งหมดซึ่งต่างจากน้ำลายของอาสาสมัครที่มีอายุ 18 ปีขึ้นไปซึ่งฆ่าเชื้อได้ทั้งหมดในนาทีที่ 5 การฆ่าเชื้อของน้ำยาบ้วนปากที่มีฤทธิ์ต้านเชื้อแบคทีเรียรุนแรงอาจมีผลต่อจำนวนเชื้อประจำถิ่นในช่องปากและระคายเคืองต่อเนื้อเยื่อในช่องปาก ข้อมูลที่ได้จะเป็นประโยชน์ในการเลือกซื้อน้ำยาบ้วนปากที่เหมาะสมต่อไป
The aims of this study to investigate the inhibitory effect of mouthwash to bacteria isolate from saliva. The isolated bacteria were tested with three formulas of mouthwash. Fifteen of saliva samples were culture for hemolysis test, catalase activity and morphological study. Colony-forming unit of bacteria were correlated with the number of tooth decay and pH of saliva. The agar well diffusion test demonstrated the rinsing solution A was inhibit all isolates. Statistical analysis showed that solution A, B and C was significance at p<0 .0 5. The efficiency of mouthwash was investigated by time kill study at time 1, 3, 5 and 7 minutes. The rinsing solution of formula A was able to inhibit all isolates from the first minute, B and C was able to inhibit all isolates at 7 and 5 minutes, respectively. In addition, bacteria isolated from subject age less than 5-year-olds kill bacteria at 7 minutes while bacteria isolated from subject age over 18-year-olds kill bacteria at 5 minutes. The antiseptic ability of mouthwash with violent activity cause of oral tissues irritant. The useful of this study may provide the information to buy a mouthwash.
