งานวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาคุณสมบัติในการต้านการเจริญเติบโตของเชื้อ MRSA ในสมุนไพรไทย 4 ชนิด (กระเทียม กระชาย ขมิ้นชัน และหัวไชเท้า) และนำไปผลิตเป็นสบู่เหลวสมุนไพร ทดสอบฤทธิ์การต้านการเจริญเติบโตของเชื้อ MRSA โดยใช้วิธี agar well diffusion การทดสอบทางสถิติโดยใช้ one way ANOVA ที่นัยสำคัญทางสถิติ p-value = 0.05 ผลการทดสอบพบว่า สารสกัดจากกระเทียมมีฤทธิ์ต้านการเจริญเติบโตของเชื้อ MRSA อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพมากที่สุด โดยวัดเส้นผ่านศูนย์กลางในการเจริญเติบโตของเชื้อได้เท่ากับ 40 +- 0.1 มิลลิเมตร ในขณะที่ไม่พบฤทธิ์ต้านเชื้อ MRSA ในสารสกัดสมุนไพรอีก 3 ชนิดที่เหลือ สารสกัดสมุนไพรทั้ง 4 ชนิดถูกนำมาผสมในสบู่เหลวผลิตเป็นสบู่เหลวไพรทั้งหมด 5 สูตร (สบู่เหลวกระเทียม สบู่เหลวกระชาย สบู่เหลวขมิ้นชัน สบู่เหลวหัวไชเท้า และสบู่เหลวสมุนไพรรวม) การทดสอบการเกิดฟองในสบู่เหลวพบว่า การเกิดฟองในสบู่เหลวแต่ละชนิดมีความแตกต่างกันอย่างไม่มีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ ส่วนสบู่เหลวขมิ้นชันและสบู่เหลวหัวไชเท้า มีประสิทธิภาพในการกำจัดไขมันได้ดีกว่าสบู่เหลวสูตรควบคุมอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p<0.05) ในขณะที่การทดสอบฤทธิ์ในการต้านการเจริญเติบโตของเชื้อ MRSA ในสบู่เหลวสมุนไพรพบว่า สบู่เหลวสมุนไพรแต่ละชนิดมีฤทธิ์ในการต้านการเจริญเติบโตของเชื้อ MRSA แตกต่างกันอย่างไม่มีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ แต่การทดสอบประสิทธิภาพในการต้านการเจริญเติบโตของเชื้อจุลชีพด้วยวิธี methylene blue reduction พบว่า สบู่เหลวกระเทียมมีประสิทธิภาพดีที่สุด สรุปได้ว่า กระเทียมเป็นสมุนไพรไทยชนิดเดียวในการทดสอบครั้งนี้ที่พบว่ามีสารยับยั้งการเจริญเติบโตของเชื้อ MRSA ได้และสบู่เหลวกระเทียมมีฤทธิ์ต้านจุลชีพในนมได้ดีที่สุด
The aim of this study was to determine the anti-MRSA activity of four Thai herbs (garlic, finger root, turmeric and white radish), and its application in new herbal liquid soap. Anti-MRSA activity was performed using agar well diffusion assay. Statistical examination was performed using one way ANOVA, statistically significant at p-value = 0.05. The results were interesting: garlic extraction had the greatest anti-MRSA activity with 40 +- 0.1 mm of inhibition zone diameter, whereas the other three herbal extractions showed no clear zone. The herbal extractions were mixed into liquid soap, producing five herbal liquid soaps (garlic liquid soap, finger root liquid soap, turmeric liquid soap, white radish liquid soap and mixed-herbs liquid soap). Evaluation of foaming showed no significant difference between the herbal liquid soaps. However, white radish liquid soap and turmeric liquid soap showed significant difference in the removal of lipids, compared to control liquid soap (p<0.05), white anti-MRSA activity assay showed no significant difference in inhibition zone diameter between herbal liquid soaps and control liquid soap. On the other hand, garlic liquid soap showed the greatest anti-microbial activity using methylene blue reduction test (MBRT). In conclusion, garlic was the only Thai herb identified to have anti-MRSA activity agent and garlic liquid soap had greatest anti-microbial activity in milk.
