บทความนี้ได้ศึกษาวิเคราะห์สำนวนสุภาษิตไทย-อังกฤษ-จีน ที่มีความหมายสอดคล้องใกล้เคียงกัน รวม 40 ชุดสุภาษิต โดยอธิบายความเหมือน ความแตกต่าง และข้อสังเกตุในสำนวนสุภาษิต ซึ่งพบว่าในแต่ละภาษามีลักษณะเด่นที่สะท้อนถึงวัฒนธรรมของแต่ละชาติแตกต่างกันไป กล่าวคือ สุภาษิตไทยมีลักษณะเด่นที่มักเป็นสำนวนคล้องจองมีสัมผัส มีการซ้ำหรือย้ำความ มักใช้การเปรียบเทียบถึงสิ่งแวดล้อมใกล้ต้ว และมีการอ้างอิงถึงศิลปะและวรรณกรรมด้วย ส่วนสุภาษิตภาษาอังกฤษมีลักษณะเด่นที่มักเป็นการกล่าวอย่างตรงไปตรงมา สะท้อนถึงวัฒนธรรมความเป็นอยู่ของชาติตะวันตก นอกจากนี้ยังมีการอ้างอิงถึงกวี นิทาน หรือ เครื่องใช้ในชีวิตประจำวันด้วย สำหรับลักษณะเด่นของสุภาษิตเด่นของสุภาษิตจีน คือการใช้คำสั้นกระชับ (มักมี 4 คำ) ทั้งนี้เพราะภาษาจีนมีลักษณะเป็นคำโดด แต่ละคำ/อักษรมีทั้งความหมายเฉพาะตัวและความหมายหลากหลาย คำสุภาษิตจีนมีทั้งที่กล่าวอย่างตรงไปตรงมา อุปมาอุปมัย และการเปรียบเทียบกับวิถีชีวิตประจำวัน
การศึกษาสำนวนสุภาษิตด้านวัฒนธรรมข้ามชาตินี้ ช่วยขยายความเข้าใจทั้งด้านภาษาและวัฒนธรรมที่เกี่ยวข้อง นับเป็นการขยายมุมมองความรู้ความเข้าใจระหว่างชาติและวัฒนธรรมได้เป็นอย่างดี การศึกษานี้จึงอาจเป็นแนวทางในการศึกษากลุ่มข้อมูลอื่นในด้านวัฒนธรรมข้ามชาติได้ต่อไป
This article studies an analyzes 40 sets of transcultural aspects of proverb translation in three languages: Thai, English and Chinese. These sets of transcultural aspects have close meanings but some have notational differences due to cultural identities. The findings focused on the prominent characteristics of each language. There are many rhymes in Thai proverbs which are formed by repetitions or reduplications. Most Thai proverbs refer the meaning through culture and are related to arts and literature. On the other hand, English proverbs have more direct meanings as in the western culture. Moreover, they refer to poets, folktales, or tools of daily life. Most Chinese proverbs use short words (four characters) presented both explicit and implied meanings, including parables relating to daily life.
This study of transcultural aspects of Thai-English-Chinese selected proverbs enlarge the understanding of both languages and related cultures. It assists readers to expand their knowledge and opinions of transcultural aspects so they can took for other trends for further studies.
