งานวิจัยเรื่องนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์ภาพสะท้อนของคนไทยเชื้อสายจีนกวางตุ้งในวรรณกรรม ของยุวดี ต้นสกุลรุ่งเรือง โดยมีสมมติฐานการวิจัย คือ ภาพสะท้อนของคนไทยเชื้อสายจีนกวางตุ้งในวรรณกรรม ของ ยุวดี ต้นสกุลรุ่งเรื่อง นำเสนอภาพการดำเนินชีวิต วัฒนธรรม ประเพณีและวิถีชีวิตความเป็นอยู่ของคนไทยเชื้อสายจีนกวางตุ้งอย่างชัดเจน
ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ปรากฏภาพสะท้อน 2 ด้าน คือ ภาพสะท้อนด้านครอบครัว และภาพสะท้อนด้านวัฒนธรรม ดังนี้ ภาพสะท้อนด้านครอบครัวของคนไทยเชื้อสายจีนกวางตุ้งนิยมมีครอบครัวใหญ่ เพราะมีความเชื่อว่าคนจำนวนมากจะได้ร่วมแรงร่วมใจทำมาหากิน และด้านคุณธรรม คนไทยเชื้อสายจีนกวางตุ้งเป็นกลุ่มคนที่มีคุณธรรมและมีความซื่อสัตย์สุจริต นอกจากนี้ ยังเป็นคนที่มีความกตัญญูกตเวที ขยันหมั่นเพียรและอดทน พึ่งตัวเอง รู้จักประหยัด และยังมีความเชื่อ ส่วนเรื่องอาหารการกินของคนไทยเชื้อสายจีนกวางตุ้งกลายเป็นวัฒนธรรมชนิดหนึ่งซึ่งปรากฏในสังคมไทย อีกทั้งในด้านสังคม คนไทยเชื้อสายจีนกวางตุ้งเป็นกลุ่มคนที่ได้กระจายไปอาศัยอยู่ตามแม่น้ำหรือท่าเรือต่าง ๆ ในประเทศไทย กลุ่มคนไทยเชื้อสายจีนกวางตุ้งมีทั้งคนรวย เป็นชนชั้นเจ้านายที่อพยพมา และมีทั้งคนยากจน เนื่องจากคนไทยเชื้อสายจีนกวางตุ้งต้องการสร้างฐานะในประเทศไทย จึงต้องหาความช่วยเหลือจากคนไทยอย่างสม่ำเสมอ จึงทำให้มีความสัมพันธ์กับคนไทย ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ด้านสถานะของผู้หญิงกวางตุ้ง เป็นเพศอ่อนแอ เชื่อฟังผู้ใหญ่และสามี เป็นคนเรียบร้อยและเข้าใจคนอื่น มีความกตัญญู และเป็นคนที่มีความรับผิดชอบต่อประเพณี
This research aims to analyze reflections of Cantonese-Thais in literary works of Yuwadee Tonsakulrungruang. The hypothesis of this research is that reflections of Cantonese-Thais in literary works of Yuwadee Tonsakulrungruang clearly present the culture, customs, and lifestyle of Cantonese-Thais.
It is found that Cantonese-Thais prefer large families because they believe that numerous members can work together in order to make a living; regarding culture, Cantonese-Thais are virtuous and are faithful to the community; and are also very grateful, diligent, self-reliant and frugal. As regards food, Cantonese-Thai cuisine has become part of the culinary tradition in Thai society. As regards society, Cantonese-Thais immigrated to Thailand to make a living; dispersing through Thailand, they resided near rivers or piers. Cantonese-Thais were a diverse group, including, for instance, not only wealthy people who had belonged to the ruling class in China but also impoverished farmers. As they were a group who wanted to establish themselves in Thailand, they often had to rely on help from Thais; because of this, relations between Cantonese-Thais and Thais became significant. Regrading the condition of Cantonese-Thai women, they are weak; obedient to their elders and husbands; neat; understanding; grateful; and take responsibility for traditions.
