กล่าวถึงเฉพาะโลจิสติกส์ของการท่องเที่ยวเท่านั้น ซึ่งมีความหมายถึง กระบวนการบริหารที่เกี่ยวข้องกับช่องทางการจำหน่าย การเคลื่อนย้ายทางกายภาพ ข้อมูลข่าวสารที่เกี่ยวข้อง และการเงิน ของการเดินทางเข้าสู่เมืองท่องเที่ยว การอยู่ในเมืองท่องเที่ยว และการเดินทางออกจากเมืองท่องเที่ยว เพื่อให้เกิดประสิทธิภาพที่จะนำไปสู่การเพิ่มศักยภาพและการแข่งขันทางด้านการท่องเที่ยว หรือจะกล่าวอีกนัยหนึ่งก็คือการจัดการให้สะดวกสบาย ทันเวลา รวดเร็ว และปลอดภัย พร้อมทั้งตอบสนองต่อความต้องการของแต่ละตลาดหรืออาจจะไม่ใช่ความต้องการของทุกตลาดก็ได้ แต่การตรงต่อเวลาและทันเวลา นับว่าเป็นความต้องการของทุกคน ดังนั้น การขนส่งนักท่องเที่ยวจึงเป็นเพียงกิจกรรมหนึ่งในโลจิสติกส์ท่องเที่ยวการขนส่งเกิดขึ้น ณ ช่วงหนึ่งเท่านั้น ไม่ใช่ตลอดทั้งเส้นทาง เช่น กิจกรรม การขนส่งด้วยรถบัส กิจกรรมการขนส่งด้วยเรือ แต่ไม่มีกิจกรรมการขนส่งเมื่ออยู่ในที่พัก แต่โลจิสติกส์ท่องเที่ยวเป็นตัวประสานกิจกรรมการขนส่งเหล่านี้เข้าด้วยกัน และยังจัดการ ณ จุดที่ไม่มีการขนส่งอีกด้วย
Logistics originated from planning in the delivery of weapons and food to the U.S. military during World War II. However, since then logistics has developed into a business system. In this study, only logistics in tourism will be discussed. Logistics in this study means the management (a) of distribution channels, (b) of physical movement along those channels and (c) of related information and finances, with regard to travel in a tourist destination as well as travel outside a tourist destination, in order to create efficiency and competitiveness in the tourism industry. In other words, logistics is the management of convenience, punctuality, rapidity and safety in order to meet the needs of a particular market. However, as punctuality is what everyone needs, the actual activity of transporting tourists is only one aspect of logistics in tourism. Transportation is only one part of a tourist’s overall travel experience, including, for instance, travel by bus or by boat but excluding time spent in a hotel.
