การศึกษาพัฒนาการด้านโลจิสติกส์ในสยามประเทศ กรณีศึกษา บริษัทโงวฮก จำกัด

Abstract

รายงานวิจัยเรื่อง "การศึกษาพัฒนาการด้านโลจิสติกส์ในสยามประเทศ กรณีศึกษา บริษัท โงวฮก จำกัด มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาประวัติและพัฒนาการการดำเนินธุรกิจด้านโลจิสติกส์ของบริษัทชาวจีนโพ้นทะเลในไทย และศึกษาการพัฒนาด้านโลจิสติกส์ของไทยผ่านการดำเนินงานของบริษัทชาวจีนโพ้นทะเลดังกล่าว ขอบเขตของการวิจัยเป็นการศึกษาประวัติและพัฒนาการระบบ การบริหารงาน และปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการพัฒนาด้านโลจิสติกส์ของบริษัทที่คณะผู้วิจัยศึกษาระหว่างปี พ.ศ. 2472-2552 และศึกษาการพัฒนาด้านโลจิสติกส์ของไทยผ่านการดำเนินงานของบริษัทที่คณะผู้วิจัยศึกษาเท่านั้น การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพใช้วิธีเชิงพรรณนาอธิบายคุณลักษณะของข้อมูลที่ศึกษา ได้แก่ ข้อมูลที่ได้จากเอกสารทางประวัติศาสตร์ รายงานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้อง การสัมภาษณ์แบบเป็นทางการ การเดินทางไปเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลภาคสนามจากสถานที่จริง การสำรวจและศึกษาเอกสารประวัติการดำเนินงานของบริษัท เพื่อนำมาวิเคราะห์และประมวลข้อมูลตามกรอบวิจัยที่กำหนด ประชากรและกลุ่มตัวอย่าง คือ ผู้บริหาร คณะกรรมการและที่ปรึกษาบริษท ลูกหลานของผู้ก่อตั้ง หรือมีความสัมพันธ์กับการจัดตั้งหรือการดำเนินงานของบริษัทตั้งแต่อดีต รวมทั้งบุคคลที่เกี่ยวข้องกับการบริหารจัดการในปัจจุบัน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ แบบบันทึกข้อมูล แบบสัมภาษณ์ โสตทัศนูปกรณ์ต่างๆ จากผลการศึกษาพบว่า ก่อนกำเนิดเป็นบริษัท เป็นยุคที่ชาวตะวันตกได้เริ่มเข้ามามีบทบาททางเศรษฐกิจในรัชสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัวรัชกาลที่ 4 จากลงนามในสนธิสัญญาบาวริ่งเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2498 ส่งผลต่อการขยายตัวของธุรกิจการค้าระหว่างประเทศ และการดำรงอยู่ของกลุ่มพ่อค้าชาวจีนและชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนในสังคมไทยที่เริ่มเข้ามากุมอำนาจทางเศรษฐกิจและการค้า จนนำไปสู่การขยายขอบเขตการทำธุรกิจด้านการขนส่ง ทั้งนี้เพื่อแข่งขันกับบริษัทขนส่งของชาวต่างประเทศ สำหรับยุคก่อกำเนิดที่คณะผู้วิจัยศึกษานั้น บริษัทเกิดจากการรวมตัวของนักธุรกิจชาวไทยเชื้อสายจีนจาก 5 ตระกูล ดำเนินธุรกิจด้านการขนส่งสินค้าทางเรือในไทย ผลการวิจัยครั้งนี้ ได้สะท้อนให้เห็นภาพประวัติและพัฒนาการด้านโลจิสติกส์ในสยามประเทศ เป็นการศึกษาผ่านบริษัท โงวฮก จำกัด ที่เป็นกระจกเงาแสดงให้เห็นถึงอิทธิพลทางด้านเศรษฐกิจ การเมือง สังคมและวัฒนธรรม ที่มีต่อการดำเนินธุรกิจทางด้านโลจิสติกส์ในแต่ละยุคสมัย ทำให้มองเห็นภาพความมีวิริยะอุตสาหะ มานะบากบั่น พากเพียรพยายาม อดทนและอดออมของชาวจีนโพ้นทะเลในไทย ที่เริ่มต้นธุรกิจจากจุดเล็กๆ จนประสบความสำเร็จทำให้บริษัทมีความเป็นปึกแผ่นมั่นคง มีชื่อเสียงท้้งในระดับประเทศและนานาประเทศ รูปแบบพัฒนาการของบริษัทเริ่มจากการลองผิดลองถูก กล้าเสี่ยงที่จะดำเนินธุรกิจ ต้องเผชิญกับความท้าทายจากอิทธิพลของบริษัทต่างชาติ ผลการวิเคราะห์จุดอ่อน จุดแข็ง โอกาส และอุปสรรค ในการดำเนินธุรกิจของบริษัท ทำให้มองเห็นมูลเหตุสำคัญทำให้บริษัทมีความเป็นปึกแผ่นและประสบความสำเร็จอย่างแท้จริงในปัจจุบัน จากการที่บริษัทได้สะสมประสบการณ์ในวงการธุรกิจการขนส่งทางเรือมานาน ผู้บริหารบริษัทมองเห็นการณ์ไกล มีวิสัยทัศน์ที่กว้างไกล มีวัฒนธรรมในการบริหารงานและบริหารคนโดยยึดหลักคุณธรรม การรถ่ายทอดความรอบรู้ในเชิงธุรกิจอย่างลึกซึ้ง จากรุ่นหนึ่งไปยังอีกรุ่นหนึ่งรวมทั้งการให้ความสำคัญกับกิจกรรมทางสังคมอย่างสม่ำเสมอ ในอีกด้านหนึ่ง บริษัทต้องเผชิญกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงจากก้าวหน้าทางเทคโนโลยีสมัยใหม่ การขาดแคลนบุคลากรที่มีความรู้ ความสามารถ ความผันผวนทางเศรษฐกิจ ความไม่แน่นอนจากอิทธิพลของธรรมชาติมีผลกระทบต่อการเดินเรือ ทำให้ล่าช้าและเกิดความเสียหาย จากผลการศึกษาประวัติพัฒนาการทางด้านโลจิสติกส์ของสยามประเทศผ่านบริษัท โงวฮก จำกัด ครั้งนี้ สรุปได้ว่า ธุรกิจโลจิสติกส์มีการพัฒนาควบคู่กับความเจริญก้าวหน้าในระบบเศรษฐกิจของประเทศโดยอาศัยช่องว่างทางสังคมและเศรษฐกิจ เช่น การขาดพ่อค้าคนกลางในการลำเลียงวัตถุดิบหรือสินค้า การขาดแคลนแรงงานที่จะนำมาใช้ในธุรกิจโลจิสติกส์ การบริหารจัดการด้านโลจิสติกส์ยังไม่เป็นที่รู้จักแพร่หลายสำหรับคนไทยในยุคสมัยนั้น ต้องใช้วิธีการถ่ายโอนความรู้จากประเทศตะวันตก การถ่ายทอดเทคโนโลยี การบริหารจัดการทางด้านการขนส่ง และการเดินเรือจากต่างประเทศรวมทั้งอุตสาหกรรมการต่อเรือจากรุ่นหนึ่งไปยังอีกรุ่นหนึ่ง เหล่านี้ปรากฏให้เห็นในวิวัฒนาการของการดำเนินธุรกิจของบริษัทแทบทั้งสิ้น ทำให้บริษัทได้พัฒนามาเป็นสถานประกอบการขนาดใหญ่และมีชื่อเสียงในอุตสาหกรรมโลจิสติกส์ในปัจจุบัน

This research "The Study of Logistics Development in Siam : A Case Study of Ngow Hock Co., Ltd.", was designed to comprehend history and development in logistics business of the Overseas Chinese Corporation in Thailand and to understand logistics business development in Thailand through this corporation. History and development, system, administration and factors affecting to logistics development of this corporation were the scope of this research in the period between 1929-2009. This study focuses on the Overseas Chinese Corporation by conducting qualitative research and using the descriptive method to investigate collected data from the corporations documents in the past, reviewed literature, formal interviews and overall survey of the actual historical place in order to analyze and process that which is relevant to the research framework. Population and samples of the study were the executive committee and advisory broad, including successors of the founder and the younger generation of the corporation. The main research instruments addressed in this study were record sheet, structure interview questions and other visual aids. The results of this study revealed that this corporation began in the era of Western foreign influence on Siam's economy according to the Bowring Treaty in 1955 during the reign of King Rama IV of Thailand. This influence impacted the expansion of international business and the existence of Chinese merchants and overseas Chinese in Siam society. The domination of overseas Chinese in Thai economy lead to the development and the dispersion of transportation business in order to overcome Western foreign companies. The Overseas Chinese Corporation in the research was formed by the 5 famous transportation business Overseas Chinese Companies in Thailand. The result of this study also showed that history and logistics development in Siam through one Overseas Chinese Corporation especially in economic, political, social and culture effected logistics business of this corporation in each era. It was also revealed that the telent, diligence, patience, enthusiasm and frugality of overseas Chinese people who residence in Thailand started from small steps in micro business and became a large strengthen and growth company. It became famous in the country and at the international level, from using trial and error at the beginning and takingg risk to challenge the big Western companies. The SWOT analysis showed the important factors that lead the corporation to success and developed a prosperous business with sustainable growth. This was due to experience in the transportation business field together with administrator's vision, effective principle management and moral issues, a body of knowledge transferred from generation to generation, played the important role of society contribution. On the other side the company confronted the dramatic changes of advanced technology, lack or talented human resources, the economy crisis, the fluctuation of the economy and natural disasters. The study also revealed that logistics business have developed along with the growth of Thailand's economic system. Development depended on advantages in the social and economic gaps such as lack of logistics service providers for transporting materials and goods and shortage of manpower. Besides that logistics business was unknown to Thai people in the past. Knowledge and technology of Western countries and modern management in transportation, navigation, and conventional construction business transferred from generation to generation were all a part of the evolution of this corporation. These factors display how it came to be the biggest and most famous in the logistics industry at the present time.
