นิสัยรักการอ่าน ทัศนคติ และความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างความสามารถในการอ่านต่อผลการเรียน

Abstract

การวิจัยเรื่อง “นิสัยรักการอ่าน ทัศนคติ และความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างความสามารถในการอ่านต่อผลการเรียน” มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษา นิสัยรักการอ่าน ทัศนคติต่อการอ่าน ความสามารถในการอ่านและระดับผลการเรียนของเยาวชน เป็นการวิจัยเชิงสำรวจโดยใช้แบบสอบถามกับกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่เป็นเด็กและเยาวชนอายุระหว่าง 8-25 ปี ทั่วประเทศจำนวน 1,000 คน ผลการศึกษาครั้งนี้ กลุ่มตัวอย่างร้อยละ 61.3 ใช้เวลาอ่านสัปดาห์ละ 2-3 ครั้งและร้อยละ 74.7 ใช้ เวลาอ่านประมาณ 2-5 ชั่วโมงต่อสัปดาห์ วัสดุที่เยาวชนสนใจอ่านบ่อยมากคือหนังสือพิมพ์ร้อยละ 58.2 รองลงมานิตยสาร/ วารสารร้อยละ 46.3 อ่านบ้างจากคอมพิวเตอร์และอินเทอร์เน็ตร้อยละ 82.4 แหล่งที่เยาวชน ใช้อ่านบ่อยครั้ง มากที่สุดคือบ้านของตนเองร้อยละ 91.3 รองลงมาคือห้องสมุดร้อยละ 48.1 เยาวชนร้อยละ 52.0 ประเมินความสามารถของตนเองในการอ่านจับใจความและความเร็วในการอ่าน ระดับปานกลาง ด้านผลการเรียนวิชาภาษาไทย วิชาภาษาอังกฤษและคะแนนเฉลี่ยสะสมพบว่า ระดับคะแนน ภาษาไทยอยู่ที่ 2.00-2.49 มากที่สุดคือร้อยละ 31.4 ระดับคะแนนวิชาภาษาอังกฤษอยู่ที่ 2.50-2.99 มากที่สุดคือ ร้อยละ 28.8 ระดับคะแนนเฉลี่ยสะสมอยู่ที่ 3.00-3.49 มากที่สุดคือร้อยละ 28.4 การทดสอบทางสถิติใน การศึกษาครั้งนี้พบว่า เพศ รายได้ของครอบครัว ระดับการศึกษา ช่วงอายุ มีผลต่อเวลาที่ใช้ในการอ่านและ ความสามารถในการอ่าน เยาวชนไทยที่มีความสามารถในการอ่านจับใจความแตกต่างกันจะมีระดับผลการเรียน วิชาภาษาไทย วิชาภาษาอังกฤษและคะแนนเฉลี่ยสะสมแตกต่างกัน ในภาพรวมเยาวชนมีทัศนคติทางบวกต่อการอ่าน คิดว่าการอ่านเป็นการใช้เวลาว่างให้เป็นประโยชน์ มากที่สุด ค่าเฉลี่ยคือ 3.44 รองลงมานิสัยรักการอ่านมีความสำคัญ ค่าเฉลี่ย 3.32 การอ่านมีส่วนสำคัญต่อ ความสำเร็จในชีวิตของคนเรา ค่าเฉลี่ย 3.18 และน้อยที่สุดคือ ตนเองมีส่วนกระตุ้นให้เพื่อน ๆ รักการอ่าน ค่าเฉลี่ย 2.44

This research intends to study Thai youths’ attitude toward reading, reading behavior, reading ability and the relationship between attitude and their educational performance. The study employs a questionnaire survey on a sample of 1,000 children and youths of age between 8-25. Results of the study showed that 61.3 percent of youths read books 2 couple time a week. And 74.7 percent of them spent 2-5 hours a week reading books. About the reading materials, 58.2 percent of the youths read newspapers and 46.3 percent of them read magazines while 82.4 percent of them also read from the internet. The study found that the most favorite places to read are their own homes, which accounted for 91.3 percent of children and youths. Secondly was the school library at 48.1 percent. A 52 percent of children and youths in the sample estimated their own reading comprehension ability and their reading speed to be average. Considering the children and youths reading comprehension ability together with their academic performance in Thai language, English language and the average GPA, the study found that the most average of Thai language GPA was in the range of 2.00-2.49 with 31.4 percent of the youths, the most average of English language GPA was in the range of 2.50-2.99 with 28.8 percent of the youths and the most average of overall GPA was in the range of 3.00-3.49 with 28.4 percent of the youths. Statistical analysis results are sex, family income, level of education, and age all have a significant influence on time spent in reading and reading comprehension ability. A statistical test found that Thai youths with different reading ability have a significant differences on academic performance in Thai language, English language, and overall GPA. Overall, the youths in the survey had positive attitude toward reading. They thought reading was the most beneficial free time spending with the highest mean at 3.44. The other lesser important means were 3.32 for the importance of love reading habit, 3.18 for the influence of reading on success in life, and 2.44 for their success in encouraging friends to read.
